Delhi High Court Refers 'BRO CODE' Trademark Dispute Between Indospirit and Ravi Mohan's Studio To Mediation
The Delhi High Court on Thursday referred a trademark infringement dispute between Indospirit Beverages Private Limited and actor Ravi Mohan's production house over the use of the title “BRO CODE” for an upcoming Tamil film to mediation before the Delhi High Court Mediation and Conciliation Centre.
Justice Tushar Rao Gedela passed the order on January 15, 2026, while hearing the matter arising from Indospirit's suit alleging infringement and passing off of its “BROCODE” trademark through the film's title.
With the consent of both sides, the Court referred the dispute to the Delhi High Court Mediation and Conciliation Centre and directed the parties to appear before the mediator on January 17, 2026. The Court also granted them liberty to participate in the mediation proceedings through video conferencing.
Earlier, on October 14, 2025, the Court had granted an ad-interim injunction restraining Ravi Mohan's studio from using the mark “BRO CODE” in the title or promotion of the film. The Court had found that the use of an identical mark without authorization prima facie amounted to trademark infringement and was likely to cause confusion regarding an association between the film and Indospirit's products.
The Court had observed that the adoption of the mark could mislead consumers and cause irreparable injury to Indospirit, while clarifying that the studio could continue production of the film subject to compliance with the injunction.
On November 12, 2025, a Division Bench of the Delhi High Court refused to stay the operation of the Single-Judge injunction order while issuing notice on an appeal filed by Ravi Mohan's studio.
Subsequently, on January 8, 2026, the Division Bench observed that, with the consent of the parties, it would be appropriate for the Single Judge to take up and decide the pending interim injunction application and accordingly directed that the matter be listed before the Single Judge on January 15, 2026.
Pursuant to these directions, the matter was listed before the Single-Judge Bench on Thursday, when both sides informed the Court that they were agreeable to resolving the dispute through mutual settlement talks.
The matter will next be listed before the Court on January 22, 2026.
